JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) — Local police are now working with federal authorities on the investigation into the shooting death of a Johnson City business owner.
Halal Bites owner Shakeel Khan was shot and killed while leaving his Johnson City business.
Johnson City Police Chief Brent Dodge says the investigation is ongoing.
“The scope of the investigation has really broadened there have been some leads we’ve been able to eliminate as possibilities and some new ones have come open, but were still working hand in hand with state police major crimes investigators,” said Chief Dodge.
Chief Dodge said today they don’t believe it was a hate crime and that Khan was targeted.
