VESTAL (WBNG) — Bombshell allegations have been announced against The Boy Scouts of America. Those allegations include sexual abuse. Four individuals listed are from our area.
Tuesday evening, 12 News spoke with Rick Pufky, the cub master of local cub scout troop 244, about his reaction to hearing about the allegations.
He says he finds the accusations troubling, and that action must be taken for the safety and well-being of the youth involved.
“It’s disheartening,” he says. “We’re here to help these youth grow. Teach them skills that will stick with them the rest of their lives. Especially those that reach Eagle Scout. So the fact that there’s these accusations that have come out, yeah it’s hard, it’s rough, and it’s something that needs to be looked into and taken at face value.”
Pufky also added that his cub scout meetings are staffed with many adults to ensure the safety of every child at all times.
