BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — The mother of a boy murdered in Johnson City in February has pleaded guilty to two charges in connection to the investigation.

Jerome Smith, 11, was found dead in an apartment at 87 Burbank Avenue on February 2. His mother, Shakia Crute, had originally been charged with manslaughter.

She appeared in Broome County Court on Thursday to plead guilty to endangering the welfare of a child and hindering prosecution.

A tentative sentencing date for Crute has been set for August 16.

In April, 44-year-old Larry Harris was charged with second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter in Jerome’s death.
