Binghamton, Johnson City police investigating church break-ins

(WBNG) — The Binghamton and Johnson City police departments are currently investigating church burglaries from over the weekend.

Binghamton Burglary – First Presbyterian Church

According to the Binghamton Police Department, First Presbyterian Church, located at 4 Floral Avenue, was broken into around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police say they are trying to identify the man pictured in these surveillance photos.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the incident is asked to call the Binghamton Police Detective Division at (607) 772-7080, and reference Case Number 2019-28896.

 

Johnson City Burglary – Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church

The Johnson City Police Department says its detectives are investigating after a person or people broke into a church in the village.

According to Police Chief Brent Dodge, damage to Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church was discovered Saturday night.

Chief Dodge says no injuries were reported, but undisclosed property was stolen.

No arrests have been made, Dodge says.

The church is located at 308 Main Street in Johnson City.

When asked if police think these two crimes are connected, Dodge said, “It is very possible, we cannot rule it out.”
