Plymouth couple charged with endangering the welfare of a child

PLYMOUTH, N.Y. (WBNG) — A Chenango County couple is charged with multiple crimes following a child’s hospital visit.

Chenango County Detectives reported to Chenango Memorial Hospital after medical staff reported suspicious injuries.

The detectives observed a 5-year-old boy with serious bruises from head to toe, and what detectives believed to be tape marks on the boy’s arms. The child was treated and released into the custody of the Sheriff’s Office. Detectives then located a second child, a 4-year-old girl with similar injuries.

The same day, authorities arrested Samantha Smith of Plymouth who was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. After executing a search warrant on Smith’s residence, she was also charged with assault.

As a result of the search, Vincent Guglielmo was also charged with two counts of assault, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful imprisonment. He was arrested without incident and is being held on $150,000 cash bail.

The case is still under investigation.
