BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – Runners and walkers took to Court Street early on Sunday to participate in the 5K Run and Walk Race for Justice.

The run was put on by Coughlin and Gerhart LLP, with proceeds going towards the Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York, Inc., which provides legal assistance for low-income people in need for civil suits.

Event staffers added a canine competition to the race this year, giving furry friends a chance to support their owners, and even join in on the fun.

Organizer Arlene Sanders was excited about the turnout.

“It’s really wonderful and it’s not just those that run, we have a lot of people that walk, we have a lot of people that come as teams , family teams, teams from different businesses,” Sanders said. “We have so many volunteers, probably as many volunteers as participants. It’s a great feeling to see everybody out here.”

Around 100 people came out to support the run and its cause.
