BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Dozens of young people gathered in Binghamton Thursday morning for the Southern Tier Young Professionals Summit.
The summit aims to give the many young professionals in the Southern Tier a place to come together and network.
The event featured a handful of learning and development workshops, as well as two keynote speakers.
One of those speakers, who goes by Johnny Cupcakes, focused on telling the story of his journey starting his own business, hoping he could inspire other young people to do the same.
“The importance of entrepreneurship, it helps build grit, it helps you adapt, and it helps you put puzzles together. When you do entrepreneurship and act as an entrepreneur, you get to innovate and try new things and potentially work for yourself. Or, you can be an ‘intrepreneur,’ an entrepreneur in another person’s organization,” he explained.
The Southern Tier Young Professionals Summit was an all-day event, hosted at the Holiday Inn in downtown Binghamton.
