BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Friday kicks off Family Weekend at Binghamton University. Family Weekend not only brings crowds to campus, but also to local restaurants.
Local restaurants are gearing up for what they say will be a very busy few days.
On Friday, Number 5 and Garage Taco Bar said they always see an influx in customers for this weekend.
Even after more than four decades of business for Number 5, they said this Friday is their busiest yet. Jim McCoy, owner of Number 5, said they already have over 300 reservations for Saturday night.
“But keep in mind, you can only be full,” McCoy said. “You can never be busier than full, so it’s really not impossible to do.”
It’s all hands on deck this weekend with an increase in staff and food. Even with the craziness, Daniel Sharp, owner of Garage Taco Bar, said they treat this weekend like any other, all while taking in the excitement.
“We’re already a pretty fast-paced place,” Sharp said. “We’re energetic so it kind of fits us, so we have fun with it.”
Number 5 said they are looking forward to showing families their fine dining. Garage even has a few BU-themed drink specials for parents. They will also have family style meals and their typical margaritas.
Integrating Bearcat pride in a weekend sure to be filled with fun and food.
