Bomb threat at Towanda Area School District

4 P.M. UPDATE:

TOWANDA, Pa. (WBNG) — Towanda Area School District officials say school will resume as normal on Friday following a bomb threat investigation.

A message posted on the district website and Facebook page explained that Pennsylvania State Polcie bomb dogs searched the junior and senior high schools, and determined the school is safe and secure.

All school after-school practices are cancelled Thursday evening, and the schools will open on schedule on Friday morning, according to the post, which can be viewed below:

TOWANDA, Pa. (WBNG) — The Towanda Borough Police Department is investigating a bomb threat in the Towanda Area School District.

Police would not tell 12 News which school or schools in the district received threats but that officers were investigating.

Calls by 12 News on Thursday to the Towanda Area School District have gone unreturned. However, the district did post on its Facebook page that schools in the district were dismissed early, although a reason for the early dismissal was not given.
