SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WBNG) — The Rosamond Gifford Zoo has launched a contest for the public to help name its new baby Asian elephant. He was born on January 15.
According to the zoo, Asian elephants are native to Southeast Asia including India and Thailand. Participants are asked to submit a name that reflects this heritage and include the meaning of the name, if possible.
Name suggestions will be accepted until 4 p.m. Friday, February 8. The zoo’s elephant team will then select five finalists for the public to choose from in an online vote.
