12-year-old dies after Syracuse shooting

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WTVH/WBNG) — Police say a 12-year-old boy is dead following an overnight shooting in Syracuse.

The shooting happened Wednesday night around 9:35 p.m. at the 100 block of John Street.

According to police, a 12-year-old boy was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with a gunshot wound in his abdomen. He was later taken to Upstate University Hospital where he died early Thursday morning from his injuries, officers say.

Police also note a woman in her 30s was grazed by gunfire, but the injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

There is no suspect information at this time. The Syracuse Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.
