JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) — Governor Andrew Cuomo and members of his administration gave out Thanksgiving turkeys at different locations across the state.
Among the locations is Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City.
Forty turkeys, along with different sides for a full meal, were donated.
“It’s very, very gratifying,” said New York State Canal Corporation Director Brian Stratton. “It’s always good to see wonderful institutions like the Sarah Jane Johnson Church that is really working with the community, whether it’s their clothing program or the other social programs.”
The governor spoke at an event Tuesday in the Bronx.
“And just as you have that family around the Thanksgiving table and you may not agree with everyone on everything and you may have a brother-in-law who you think is a jerk, I get it. But we’re still one family and we have to remember that as a society. We need more unity, more understanding, more commonality and less division. And I think that’s important to remember this Thanksgiving holiday,” Cuomo said.
