HARPURSVILLE (WBNG) — The Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSA) organized the special event, with the help of Santa Claus.
Volunteers with the National Honor Society and Student Council helped younger students shop for Christmas presents at the W. A. Olmsted Elementary.
“It’s just a good feeling to be able to see them enjoy shopping for their families and spread Christmas cheer,” said Harpursville PTSA Vice President Diane Fargo.
Seventh-grade student Morgan Lavergne was one of the volunteers at the workshop.
“I love seeing all the kids be happy and the most thing that they like are the cookies,” she said.
She says even though the cookies are tasty, she has a greater purpose to be at the event.
“I came for most of the day and I love coming here because of all the kids and they’re so happy to be here,” added Lavergne.
Other students, like Addison Lawrence, also in seventh grade, reflected on when she was younger shopping for presents.
“I remember from last year and so I’m over there wrapping and I just see the little kids and their making my day,” said Lawrence.
