More than $5K raised by Binghamton police through cancer initiatives

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Binghamton police are making a big contribution in the fight against cancer.

According to the Binghamton Police Department, $5,376 was raised for the American Cancer Society by two department initiatives.

In October, officers purchased pink badges and wore them for breast cancer awareness, through the initiative called “Real Men Wear Pink”..

Male officers were allowed to grow beards in November, also known as “No Shave November,” and female officers were allowed to paint their nails pink and purple.
