TOWN OF DICKINSON (WBNG) — For more than 20 years, SUNY Broome has celebrated the holiday season with its event “Giving of the Toys.”

On Thursday, more than 60 departments, athletic teams and campus organizations presented toys to Santa at the SUNY Broome Student Center.

The gifts will be given to the local Toys for Tots campaign.

Volunteers say they’re thrilled to see so much support from fellow students, faculty and staff.

“It’s really great. Honestly, I think that the generation so far, a lot of older people think you know that we aren’t as selfless, and it’s really nice to see college students and young people giving to the community and helping out,” said Abigayle Bennett, a volunteer.

The various groups typically donate toys relevant to their departments.
