OWEGO (WBNG) — If you still have holiday shopping to do, Hand of Man in Owego is the place to go. With thousands of ornaments, dozens of nutcrackers and garland everywhere, this store looks like it’s straight from the North Pole.
“We call it, ‘come here to get in the holiday spirit.’ Because you do, when you walk in it kind of puts you in the mood,” Pat Hansen, the owner of Hand of Man, said.
Hansen said she’s owned this store for about 40 years. Hansen said her favorite part of this store is meeting all the people who come in.
“You know they come and say how pretty it is, and how it puts them in the holiday spirit and they come every year. It’s their tradition, so that really makes you feel good,” Hansen said.
Another employee, Valerie Andreas, has been working at Hand of Man for about 20 years.
“My favorite part is the customers and the looks on their faces when they come in. They’re so excited when they find that perfect gift they’ve been looking for,” Andreas said.
While many of the customers that visit Hand of Man are regulars, the magic of this store never gets old.
“It’s almost like it’s their first time because we always change it every year. So they walk in and their eyes just light up. It’s very childlike and it’s just the spirit of Christmas, which is the way it should be,” Andreas said.
Hand of Man is located at 180 Front St. in Owego. It’s open seven days a week.
