Health officials alert public of possible measles exposure at Newark airport on Christmas Eve

NEWARK, NJ (WBNG/CBS) — The New Jersey Department of Health is warning people who were at Newark International Airport on Christmas Eve that they may have been exposed to measles.

Health officials say that a flight from Brussels had a passenger who was infected with the contagious disease. They say the flight arrived at Terminal B on Monday.

Officials say the infected person was at the airport from 12 to 4 p.m., and may have visited other areas of the airport.

Authorities are encouraging anyone who believes they may have been exposed to contact their doctor, and alert them about their possible exposure before going to see them or entering the emergency room.

Health officials say measles can be spread easily through air if someone coughs or sneezes.
