(CNN) — An apparent attempt at a joke by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is raising some eyebrows.
Cuomo was in Albany when he was crowded by reporters on Wednesday. After one of his aides asked the media to take a few steps back Cuomo said, “Generation … space. We need space. I’ll bring you all up on charges under the MeToo movement.”
It’s unclear what Cuomo meant by that, but it’s not the first time he’s mis-stepped while talking about women and sexual violence.
Last year he opened a campaign event by remarking that it was a “pleasure” to be in a room full of women. And he was criticized for scolding a female reporter in 2017 for asking him about an aide accused of sexual harassment.
