Teacher’s aide charged with rape fired, Oxford Middle School principal suspended

OXFORD, N.Y. (WBNG) — An Oxford Middle School teacher’s aide has been fired after being charged with rape, according to Oxford Academy Central School District Superintendent Shawn Bissetta.

Bissetta told 12 News the employment of Heaven Parrish was officially terminated at Monday’s Board of Education meeting.

Police said Parrish was arrested on Jan. 25 and charged with second-degree rape, criminal sex act, and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to New York State Police, Parrish is accused of having sexual contact with a child under the age of 15 on two separate occasions in early 2018 in the village of Oxford.

Bissetta confirmed to 12 News Parrish had been a teacher’s aide at the middle school.

He also said that Oxford Middle School Principal Heather Fredenburg was suspended at Monday’s meeting, pending the investigation. Bissetta said Steve Griffin was named the school’s interim principal.

Parrish was taken to the Chenango County Jail on $5,000 bail. She is currently out on bail.
