(WBNG) — Mother Nature brought on the windy weather in the Southern Tier.
NYSEG kept busy with power outages across the state including Chenango, Broome and Delaware counties.
“I think it’s a very windy day,” said Melody Uhrinec of Port Crane. “Very windy and I can feel the temperature dropping.”
Uhrinec was at Otsiningo Park in the morning.
“Bringing the dogs out for a walk before it goes too cold and snows again, for exercise,” she said.
The wind didn’t stop people from going outside.
“The sun makes such a difference and who cares about the chill,” said Debbie Saltzman of Vestal. “You get warmed up when you start walking and it’s really lovely.”
“I don’t mind it, the sun is out, it’s good, it’s good just to be walking today,” explained Bonnie DeForest of Binghamton.
12 News reached out to NYSEG to see how the company prepares for windy days.
No one was available to speak to us on camera.
A company representative tell us it has prepared crews and equipment ready in the event power goes out or trees fall down.
If the lights do turn dark NYSEG says crews will work quickly to restore power again.
