JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) — Wegmans, with the help of the community, donated $76,983 to the United Way of Broome County. The money was donated by Wegmans’ corporate office, as well as its employees and customers.

“It’s what we do, it’s the right thing to do. You’re part of the community, we want to be part of the community. The community gives us an awful lot of support, and it’s a way for us to give back to that,” said Merchandising Area Manager Eldon Wise.

United Way of Broome County says it will put the money toward health and education related projects in the community. The nonprofit honored Wegmans with the Watson Award, which recognizes Wegmans’ membership in United Way’s Thomas J. Watson Society.
