New York State burn ban begins on March 16

(WBNG) — The New York State burn ban will start on March 16 and go through May 14.

During this time period, residential brush burning is banned throughout New York State.

According to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, the burn ban has reduced the amount of spring wildfires by 37 percent since the ban was first enacted in 2009.
