PORT CRANE (WBNG) — The National Weather Service on Wednesday confirmed it was a tornado that hit Port Crane around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Officials say the tornado had speeds that hit 100 miles per hour, classifying it as a EF1 or weak tornado. They also say it traveled about 2.3 miles.

Gena Dawes, who lives on Monkey Run Road, told 12 News that she woke up to a growling noise.

“I’m like ‘wake up there’s a tornado, we have to go’,” she said.

When the sun came came up, she found her home in pieces. Her porch roof was ripped off and thrown across her yard.

No injuries were reported.
