Broome County Sheriff’s Office to collect unwanted, unused prescription drugs

(WBNG) — Broome County officials and the Broome County Sheriff’s Office announced they will be collecting unwanted, outdated or unused prescription medicine and over-the-counter medication for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Officials say they will be collecting anything from aspirin to controlled substances and says the one-day event will bring focus to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse. Authorities are also reminding residents to never flush medications down the toilet.

The following is a list of locations where community members can deposit their drugs safely. The collections will take place on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sheriff’s office collection:

  •  Broome County Sheriff’s Office – 155 Lt. VanWinkle Dr., Binghamton, NY
  •  Windsor Community House – Main St., Windsor, NY
  •  Johnson City Elks Club – 4212 Watson Blvd., Johnson City, NY
  •  Scoops Ice Cream Parking Lot – Route 11, Whitney Point, NY (across from Whitney Point Middle School)
  •  Vestal Fire Station #4 – 3341 Vestal Parkway East
  •  West Corners Fire Station #1 – 500 Day Hollow Rd., Endicott, NY
  •  Deposit Police Station – 146 Front St., Deposit, NY
  •  Broome County Health Department – 225 Front St., Binghamton, NY

  • Broome County Intermodal Bus Station – 81 Chenango Street, Binghamton

Anyone who can’t attend the event can drop off medications year-round at the following locations:
