New CBD store ‘Hemp Geek’ opens up on Front Street

TOWN OF CHENANGO (WBNG) — Celebrating their grand opening, ‘Hemp Geek’ opened up in the town of Chenango Saturday selling CBD or cannabidiol products.

The store is located on Upper Front Street near Lowe’s and joins other CBD stores in our area.

Staff say CBD is one of the main cannabinoids found in the hemp or cannabis plant with the store’s products coming from industrial hemp.

Products come in a variety of forms including gummy bears, pills, liquids and more.

12 News spoke with one customer who uses CBD for anxiety and back pain. Now, she’s buying products for her dog.

“When he climbs up the stairs he aches and he pains, kind of like arthritis, like when we get older and we all know dogs only live until about 15 so this helps with the pain that he has,” said Erica Kudyk of Binghamton.

Staff say the product can help with anxiety, pain, tremors and more with little to no side effects.

Some of the products sold do contain small amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, which is the chemical that produces a high.

Staff say, however, based on their products contents and amounts of THC, they do not produce a high even if taken in large amounts.
