New app looks to connect school with families

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — A Seton Catholic High School student is working to bring Catholic Schools of Broome County into the 21st century with an app he created.

Luke Redmore, a junior at Seton Catholic Central, is behind the innovation.

“I thought it would be a fun challenge,” Redmore explained. “I never really knew anything about it, just with my computer at home that I had and I managed to do it.”

He says he wants to make sure all the schools can communicate with families. The app consists of a school calendar, sports schedules, and even the lunch menu.

Redmore worked on it for 50 hours after school, but still credits his peers.

“I don’t want to say it was all me because it did take a lot of effort, it was a lot of people,” Redmore said.

Despite the completion of the app, he says he wants to update it over time. Redmore would like to add features such as when school is canceled on a snow day.

The app is free to download. Search ‘Catholic Schools of Broome County’ in your phone’s app store to download.
