BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — DICK’S Sporting Goods held a job fair on Tuesday in the hopes of filling dozens of positions as it adds a new service to the Conklin distribution center.

Currently the facility on Conklin Road handles and ships merchandise to stock stores in the northeast. However, the distribution center has been outfitted to begin handling and processing online orders from individual customers.

The center’s e-commerce functions are expected to be fully operational by August. A job fair was held at the Broome-Tioga Workforce in Binghamton, which sees a number of employers who partner with the workforce to recruit for open positions.

“We take information from the employer, we promote it throughout social media, throughout our database of unemployed individuals and people who are looking for a job and through our community partners. We allow them to have the space so they can visit with job seekers and make some connections,” said Rebecca Harris, Contract Specialist with the Broome-Tioga Workforce.

More than 50 job seekers stopped by Tuesday. There will be an open house at the Conklin distribution center on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
