NICHOLS (WBNG) — Tioga Downs Casino and Resort is inching closer to sports betting as it wraps up construction on its brand new sportsbook.
The new spot for sports betting was created by the company Fanduel and shows off a full wall of televisions as well as plenty of space for wagering.
While Marketing Manager for Tioga Downs Jim Weed says the location is just about ready, his team is still waiting for the legal approval of sports betting by the state of New York.
The casino is one of four in Upstate New York approved to regulate sports wagering once it becomes legal.
“There’s a lot behind it, obviously you have to have regulations, you have to have rules and once that’s all set, then we’ll be good to go,” said Weed.
Weed says his team is working closely with the state and is now focusing on staffing the new facility.
“We’re just looking forward to seeing potentially some new faces and some new excitement on property.”
