TOWN OF DICKINSON (WBNG) — Organizers of the annual Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally gathered Tuesday at Otsiningo Park to announce details of the 2019 event, which will be held Aug 2, 3 and 4.

Organizers and county leaders say they want to keep the event something all ages can attend.

“Being a dad it’s so great to have a three day festival where everyday i can bring my kids and something’s going on,” said Broome County Executive Jason Garnar.

“Whether it’s a young child that comes to the event or a grandmother and grandfather that come to the event, there’s something for them to do and watch,” said event coordinator Dave Pessagno.

That’s why there’s a variety of entertainers performing throughout the weekend.

Jefferson Starship with Mickey Thomas (Friday), King Calaway, Hunter Hayes (Saturday) and Kansas (Sunday) will take the stage. Organizers also announced there will be celebrity meet-and-greets with Booboo Stewart (Saturday) and Ethan Wacker (Sunday).

Pessagno says himself and other organizers have been trying to get Hunter Hayes to perform for a few years.

“His agent said ‘I know you’ve been after him for a few years, we’d love to come to Spiedie Fest.’ I gave him the dates for this year, he kept it in mind, and agreed to it so we we’re able to pull off a pretty big country act we’re really excited about,” said Pessagno. “He’s got a lot of hits, he’s real popular for a country music star.”

Tickets are $20, and will not go up in price at all, according to organizers.

“We wanted to make sure after last year and some bad weather that it was affordable for people to come out and for a $20 ticket to get you in for all three days as well as get you in for any of the entertainment or meet and greets,” said Pessagno.

They will go on sale May 15 at the following locations:

  • Weis Markets
  • Wegmans
  • Lupo’s
  • Oakdale Mall Office

The 2 p.m. announcement was broadcast live on the WBNG 12 News Facebook page and can be viewed below.
