ENDICOTT (WBNG) — Memorial day serves as an unofficial start to the summertime season, and business is heating up for local butchers.
The staff at Butcher Boys in Endicott says the time between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day is the busiest time of year for the shop.
Staff say the reason grilling and barbecuing is so popular during the summer is because it’s a celebration of classic American culture.
“Grilling is an American pastime, something that’s happened for hundreds of years now and being Memorial Day, and remembering all the veterans who sacrificed our lives to give us the freedom we enjoy, people associate that with grilling and having a good time,” said Butcher Boys employee Lucas Gabriel.
Staff say their most popular sellers this time of year are steaks, ribs and marinated meats such as spiedies.
