TOWN OF TIOGA (WBNG) — A section of St. Patrick’s Cemetery in the town of Tioga is filling up with red balloons and flowers for Ruby Franciscovich, the eight-month-old child found deceased in the cemetery Sunday.

A candlelight vigil for Ruby has been planned by community members for Monday, June 17 from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the cemetery on Route 17C.

Organizers of the vigil and display said although they don’t know the Franciscovich family, they felt compelled to help anyway they could.

“This was just unheard of and I think it just shook me to the core that it happened right in our little hometown,” said Amber LaPlante.

One woman who stopped by the cemetery to place balloons and flowers said she thought of her own grandchildren when she heard the news, and hasn’t been able to think about anything else since.

“She’s with all the other angels that were taken way too early and I believe there’s a lot of them, and it’s sad,” Diane Corder said Wednesday.

Organizers encourage anyone who wants to attend the vigil to wear red for Ruby.
