Virginia man faces weapons charges after motorcycle crash on I-88

WORCESTER, N.Y. (WBNG) — New York State Police say a crash on Interstate 88 in Otsego County led to the arrest of a 25-year-old Virginia Man.

According to police, Phillip Davis of Strasburg, Virginia told troopers he was riding on the highway in Worcester when a tractor-trailer passed him and he slammed on the brakes, lost control of his Harley and crashed.

The incident happened just before 1 p.m. on Sunday. Davis told police he was not hurt.

Troopers say during the investigation, they found two guns in the rear storage area of the motorcycle. According to police, both guns had rounds in the magazine and one had a round chambered.

Police say Davis was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a firearm, as he does not have a pistol permit.

Troopers say he was arraigned in the Town of Worcester Court and sent to the Otsego County Jail on $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond. According to the jail, Davis was released on bail later Sunday.

A felony hearing has been scheduled for July 2.
