BERKSHIRE (WBNG) — The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office says a Berkshire man has been charged with leaving the scene of the crash that claimed the life of a motorcycle rider earlier this month.

According to deputies, 27-year-old Dylin Abbatoy was also charged with moving from his lane unsafely and failure to keep right in connection to the June 4 crash.

The sheriff’s office says an investigation found that Abbatoy was driving on East Berkshire Road when he crossed over into the opposite lane, causing 42-year-old Carl E. Hoaglin Jr. of Newark Valley to lose control of his motorcycle and crash. Hoaglin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say Abbatoy was arrested on June 21.

He was arraigned in the Berkshire Town Court and released under supervision of the Tioga County Probation Department.

Abbatoy is scheduled to reappear in Berkshire Town Court on August 19.
