(WBNG) — The race for New York’s 22nd Congressional District is heating up as outgoing District Attorney Steve Cornwell announced he is running for Congress.
Cornwell said he will run a grassroots campaign and talk with as many people as he can in the eight county district.
12 News also caught up Tuesday with the other candidates in the race.
One is Binghamton native George Phillips, a one-time regional director for Reclaim New York. The other, Franklin Safer, is a high school teacher whose been a part of the conservative movement since he was a child in Broome County.
