PORT CRANE (WBNG) — The second annual River Float brought nearly 700 rafters, all eager to float down the Chenango River to Beer Tree Brew Co. on Saturday.
Unlike last year, where the event experienced poor weather, this year brought sunshine and calm waters.
“It’s just a really cool event, and a good way to get everyone out, get outside, and stay active in the summertime,” said Chris Rhoades, co-founder of Beer Tree Brew Co.
As rafters came out of the water after a three hour float, all had nothing but positive things to say about the event.
“I love that at one point, we were all holding onto each other’s kayaks and just floating together. We were laughing and having a lot of fun because that’s the point, we had a lot of fun together,” said participant Caroline Waddell.
Beer Tree Brew Co. also collected donations to give to the Town of Fenton in hopes of improving local parks. The River Float ended with an after party, featuring live music, food, and of course, beer.
