BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Humans and animals all enjoyed a delicious feast at the Binghamton Zoo’s 28th annual fundraiser.
“We’ve been coming to feasts with the Beasts for probably 25 years,” said Betty Casey, who used to have a garden at the zoo.
19 restaurants participated in this year’s event, including some wineries giving out tastings of their products, while people roamed around looking at all the animals.
The zoo’s Public Relations Coordinator, Rachel Davenport, says this year, they sold the most amount of tickets. She says all of the proceeds go straight back into the zoo.
“All of the fundraisers here at the zoo goes back towards the animals, their diets, their exhibits, conservation efforts for them, so it all stays right here at the zoo,” explained Davenport.
Betty Casey says she feels happy every year to give back to the community, simply by enjoying a nice night out with all of the animals.
“It’s great to walk through the zoo and see the animals, try the different foods and wines, and know that it’s benefiting a good cause,” said Casey.
The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park’s next event is its “Rock and Roar” music festival. That takes place September 1.
