The Great New York State Fair sees record-breaking attendance

SYRACUSE (WBNG) — The Great New York State Fair saw record-breaking attendance Saturday.

According to the Office of Governor Andrew Cuomo, the fair saw 147,749 visitors on Saturday, which broke the previous record of 134,115 visitors that was set on August 25 last year.

The governor’s office says Saturday also marked the fifth daily attendance record of the fair as total attendance crossed the 1.1 million mark.  The office also says 9 out of 11 days have set new daily records or finished second.

Cuomo’s office says the $1 admission and the new 1,800 acre parking lot are partly responsible for the record breaking number of visitors entering the fair.

The Great New York State Fair was founded in 1841 and is the country’s third largest state fair.
