BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — The animals are away and the monsters are out at the Binghamton Zoo’s 28th annual “Boo at the Zoo.”

This weekend and next, the zoo will be open from 6:30 P.M. until 9 P.M. for a spooky experience after dark.

The animals may be inside for the night, but the zoo turns into a haunted attraction filled with zombies, clowns and creepy scenes for anyone brave enough to enter.

Halloween music and snacks also give it a little extra fun.

“Its just fun,” says Kristen Rockey from Sidney. “Its family oriented. There’s things to do outside than just the trails and you never know what to expect because it switches up every year.”

The event helps the zoo raise money to care for the animals during the off season when the zoo is only open on weekends.

Tickets are available at the door for $9 and $6 for zoo members.

Organizers say the experience is best suited for older crowds, ages 10 and up.
