Jerry Haas, brother of Jay, among four qualifiers for DICK’S Open

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – Jerry Haas, brother of Jay Haas, qualified for the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open Monday afternoon at the Links at Hiawatha Landing. Jerry was one of four golfers who qualified, joining his brother Jay in the 2018 DICK’S Open field. 29 golfers competed for the final four spots in the field.

Jerry is the golf coach at Wake Forest and told 12 Sports Monday he decided to try to qualify for the DICK’S Open because of how much he enjoys playing the course at En-Joie Golf Club.

"1986, (B.C. Open) was one of my first pro events," said Jerry Haas. "My brother, Jay Haas, won the B.C. Open and I’ve always liked En-Joie (Golf Club) and it fit in my schedule. I flew up (Sunday) morning, played a practice round with a really nice local guy named Tony, baseball coach, and we had a great time. Broke (the course) down and then just came out here today and I played really well."
