Jacob deGrom wins NL Cy Young Award

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — New York Mets’ starting pitcher Jacob deGrom won the 2018 National League Cy Young Award as the best pitcher in the NL on Wednesday. Despite only notching ten wins this season, deGrom received 29 of 30 first place votes to capture his first career Cy Young. Washington Nationals’ Max Scherzer earned the other first place vote and finished second for the award.

deGrom led the majors with a stellar 1.70 ERA. The 30-year old finished second in the National League in strikeouts with 269.
