BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Two Maine-Endwell student-athletes signed Division-2 National Letters of Intent on Thursday. Danielle Edwards committed to Bloomsburg University. Kaitlyn Kopansky committed to the University of Indianapolis.

Danielle Edwards – Bloomsburg University (lacrosse)

Edwards will be playing lacrosse at Bloomsburg University. She is planning on majoring in engineering or business education. Edwards was selected to the Section IV class C all star first team in 2018 and to the section’s all star second team in 2017. She also plays soccer at Maine-Endwell. Edwards is the president of the girl’s varsity club and a volunteer with youth lacrosse. Both Edwards and Kopanksy were named captains for the 2019 season at today’s signing.

“It felt great, the support I had was really amazing, just all my friends, family, surprised my brother and it was just nice to have everyone here,” said Maine-Endwell senior Danielle Edwards.

Kaitlyn Kopansky – University of Indianapolis (lacrosse)

Next season, Kopanky will be playing lacrosse at the University of Indianapolis and majoring in nursing. She has been on varsity lacrosse since the 9th grade, and is a four year recipient of the New York state scholar award. Kopansky is also a four year recipient of the Maine-Endwell senior high school gold academic award. Kopansky volunteers through the girls varsity club and dollars for scholars.

“I mean my hard work has not paid of yet, because when I get to the college level I hope to become a better player, so this was just the first step in becoming a better athlete,” said Maine-Endwell senior Kaitlyn Kopansky.
