Ponies sweep doubleheader with Altoona

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – On Tuesday, the Rumble Ponies swept Altoona in a doubleheader.

In game 1, Anthony Kay pitched a complete game shutout. Barrett Barnes provided the scoring, driving home the Ponies first two runs of the game.

Kay struck out eight and lowered his season ERA to 1.24.

Dario Pizzano put the icing on the cake with a three-run homer. It was his third home run of the season.

Game one final score:

Binghamton- 7 (20-12), Altoona – 0 (18-18)

In game 2, the Ponies allowed the first run of the game, a home run by the opposing pitcher off David Petersen.

A Jason Krizan RBI single would tie the game in the fourth. The game remained tied at 1 until the 7th inning, when Patrick Mazeika hit a walk-off grand slam to complete the sweep in thrilling fashion.

Binghamton- 5 (21-12), Altoona – 1 (18-19)

The Ponies and Curve will wrap up their three game series Wednesday morning for education day. First pitch is scheduled for 10:35 a.m.
