VESTAL (WBNG) – Dotty Pecha bowls about three times a week, averages about 150 a game, and has won state competitons. She’s done this all at the age of 92 years young.

“I think I will do it until they put me someplace else,” said Pecha.

Pecha began bowling at 17 and immediately fell in love with the sport.

“It is something that is competition but you can take it seriously or you can enjoy yourself and just have a good time,” said Pecha.

Pecha doesn’t just bowl in town, she frequently travels the state. She goes everywhere from Corning to Niagara Falls and this past weekend, added another trophy to her collection.

“Fortunately, I bowled good enough that I won in the B but also the club championship for bowling so well,” said Pecha.

Bowling runs in the blood of the Pecha family. Dotty is a mother of five and has passed the game down to each of her kids.

“All my kids just pick up a bowling ball and they’re in. They know how to play no matter what,” said Pecha.

With no plans to end her bowling career anytime soon, she encourages anyone and everyone to get out and just live life.

“There is no excuse really for sitting at home, you just have to keep active or life stops and I am going to keep going.”

Pecha’s next tournament will be in Plattsburgh later this year.
