Ponies sweep doubleheader with undefeated Erie

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – On Tuesday, the Rumble Ponies swept Erie in a doubleheader.

In game one, Mickey Jannis was lights out. The knuckleball pitcher threw eight innings of one-run ball to earn the victory.

Mike Paez drove in the first run of the game, and with the game tied in the bottom of the sixth, Andres Gimenez hit an opposite field home run to give Binghamton the lead for good.

Game one final score:

Binghamton- 2 (3-3), Erie – 1 (4-1)

In game 2, the party started in the first when Ali Sanchez drove in Gimenez in the first inning. Joe Zanghi threw four innings without allowing a run.

With the Ponies up 1-0 in the fifth, Jason Krizan added some breathing room with a two-run, two-out double to give Binghamton the 3-0 lead.

Game two final score:

Binghamton- 3 (4-3), Erie – 0 (4-2)

The Ponies and SeaWolves will continue their series Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
