WATKINS GLEN (WBNG) – For the second year in a row, Chase Elliot crossed the finished line first at Bowling at the Glen. He’s the fifth driver to ever repeat on this track and the first since Marcos Ambrose in 2011-2012.
Once again, it was Elliot and Martin Truex Jr. finishing first and second. The pair finished a full nine seconds ahead of the rest of the field. It was also the fifth straight sellout at the event.
Elliot led for 81 of the 90 laps. That is the most ever at Watkins Glen. The win is Elliott’s second of the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season and fifth of his career.
“Well it’s just the people, like I said it felt like a home race today which is just crazy to be this far away from the house and have that kind of reception so I just appreciate everybody’s support I think this was their fifth sell out in a row up here so racing is alive and well and I am just happy to be a part of it,” said Chase Elliot.
