Syracuse falls in old fashion Big East showdown at MSG against UConn

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — UConn handed Syracuse its first loss of the season Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, 83-76. The Huskies were in control for most of the game as Syracuse struggled to shoot the ball. The Orange finished 26-of-66 (39.4%) from the field and 6-of-22 (27.3%) from three.

Freshman guard Jalen Carey led the way for SU with 26 points and seven rebounds.

Final score: UConn (3-0) – 83, No. 15 Syracuse (2-1) – 76

The loss was part of the 2K Empire Classic sending Syracuse to the loser’s bracket and a date against No. 13 Oregon who also lost on Thursday. Syracuse and Oregon will play Friday at MSG.
