JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) — Johnson City has hired Todd Place as its next head football coach. Place takes over after three seasons as JC’s defensive coordinator, all under former head coach Dave Robinson who resigned at the end of the 2018 football season.
Place has been coaching at Johnson City for 16 years spanning three sports at various levels. Now, he is tasked with turning around a Wildcat football program that hasn’t won a Section IV Championship since 2009. Johnson City went 1-7 in 2018.
Johnson City Athletic Director told 12 Sports on Thursday, they had plenty of applicants before deciding Place was the right man to lead them back to success.
“Todd came out on top because of his character, willingness to put the student and student-athlete first,” said Paske. “And, also having a great attitude and looking for that winning tradition.”
