Bearcats open America East Tournament with a win

VESTAL (WBNG) — The Binghamton baseball team opened the America East Tournament with a thrilling 2-1, walk-off win over Hartford Wednesday afternoon.

Tied at one in the 9th inning, Shane Marshall hit an infield single to score Jake Evans and give the Bearcats the win.

Hartford opened scoring in the 6th inning, after a Zachary Ardito RBI single. That was the only run Ben Anderson allowed. With the win, Anderson set a school record for most wins in a season.

Anderson (W, 9-4): 9 IP, 6 H, 2 BB, 4 K

The Bearcats tied the game in the 7th after a Daniel Franchi infield single. Binghamton had ten hits on the day, against Hartford’s six.

Final score:

Binghamton (24-22) – 2, Hartford (20-33) – 1

The Bearcats will now take on No. 2 Albany, Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
