Ponies split doubleheader with Fisher Cats

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — On Tuesday night, the Rumble Ponies split a doubleheader with the Fisher Cats, winning game one 2-0 and dropping game two, 3-1.

In game one, pitcher Kevin Smith tossed 6 scoreless innings and striking out five, lowering his ERA to a 1.98. Barrett Barnes drove in the first run on an RBI single, followed by a Will Toffey solo home run in the fifth.

Final score game one:

Rumble Ponies – 2 (60-58), Fisher Cats – 0 (51-68)

In game two, the Fisher Cats jumped on the board early. Mickey Jannis gave up three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a Chad Spanberger two-run double. Jannis would settle after that, tossing 6 innings and striking out ten batters.

Jason Krizan hit a solo home run for the Ponies only run of the game.

Rumble Ponies – 1 (60-59), Fisher Cats – 3 (52-68)

The series continues Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
