Forecast Discussion:

Lows drop into the 30s overnight with clearing expected from west to east as a short-lived high pressure builds into the area.

We start with some sun Tuesday but clouds increase through the day. A few showers should develop into the afternoon for portions of the area. The chance of rain is 60% southwest, 40% near Binghamton and 20% north/east. It will be another breezy day with gusts possibly reaching 25mph. Highs will be in the upper 40s to low 50s. Mostly cloudy skies linger Tuesday night and there is a small chance of some patchy drizzle or even freezing drizzle depending on local temperatures. Winds will be light to calm.

Wednesday looks mainly dry for the time being. We’ll keep a 10% chance of perhaps a late day shower or few and track the arrival of the precipitation for you. Some rain will arrive overnight into Thursday morning. Highs will be in the upper 50s. Thursday has overcast skies and a chance of more showers. Highs will be in the low to mid 50s.

A trough of low pressure will slowly migrate through the eastern US Friday and Saturday. We expect rain to be with us Friday and Saturday. Due to the size of the trough and the orientation of it from south to north, it looks to funnel moisture in from the south. It turns a bit muggy and with that comes the threat of heavy rainfall. This is something that needs to be monitored closely. Rain lingers into Saturday as the trough trudges eastward out of the area. Highs will be in the 60s.

Easter Sunday may bring some lingering showers as well. The chance of precipitation is 40% with highs in the upper 50s. Next Monday looks quiet with highs in the mid 60s under a sun and cloud mix.
